Legislative Branch Unanimously Endorses Lily Gladstone and Scott George by Law

OSAGE NATION RESERVATION, OKLA. – (Feb. 29, 2024) – Osage Nation Congress passed bills unanimously supporting Lily Gladstone and Scott George for their roles in the film “Killers of the Flower Moon.” The bills were passed into law on Friday, February 2, 2024, and signed by all twelve members of the Osage Nation Congress. Both resolutions fully endorse their contributions to the groundbreaking film and its amplification of Native storytelling. Congress members also jointly applaud the late Robbie Robertson’s achievements in creating the film’s score bolstering Indigenous excellence.

This official recognition and celebration of these achievements further authenticates the critical steps taken by the Osage Nation to collaborate with Martin Scorsese to create “Killers of the Flower Moon,” setting a new standard for Native storytelling in Hollywood. This official act by the Osage Nation Legislative Branch is an unprecedented affirmation to display public support for the cast and crew of “Killers of the Flower Moon.”

Congresswoman Pamela Shaw sponsored the bills, citing Congress’s desire to show united support. “We proudly stand behind Lily, Scott, and all those who worked tirelessly to tell our story with respect, care, and authenticity,” said Congresswoman Shaw. “It’s important for people to know they have our support.”

Congress members offered additional words of affirmation and support:

“Thank you for being faithful to the gifts you have been blessed with. Our Indigenous people are proud of your accomplishments. Lu Lu Lu Lu!”

- Speaker of the Osage Nation Congress Alice Goodfox

“Lily, I commend your enthusiasm, dedication, and contributions to “Killers of the Flower Moon” and the respect you continue to show our people. Scott, thank you for the love and honor you’ve given our people through song! And I thank Mr. Robertson for accepting and choosing to share his talent in the film. May he rest in peace knowing that his achievements were well respected.”

- Congresswoman Jodie Revard

“To have one of our own, Scott George, along with all the Osage singers we hold in such high esteem, be recognized in this way is surreal, and I know comes from a place of humbleness from Mr. George. This moment in time is emotional for many of us, impacting all Osages in different ways.  Early on, myself as well as many of the wonderful Osage women around me, were concerned about how we, Osage women, would be portrayed to the world.  The love and care Lily Gladstone put into this role goes far beyond acting and has given us the opportunity to cry, smile, and perhaps even heal just a little from the unspeakable terror our people experienced.

- Second Speaker Pamela Shaw

“The world has heard our story. They saw Molly as an Osage woman of strength and determination; for that, we thank you, Lily. Your talent and your strength shined through. You are forever our sister. And to my brother and friend Scott, who lives each day of his life as an Osage, thank you for your talent, words, message, and prayer to heal our people.”

- Osage Nation Congresswoman Paula Stabler

“So proud of the both of you, congratulations. Rest in peace, Robbie.”

- Osage Nation Congressman Joe Tillman
