OSAGE NATION RESERVATION, OKLA. (March 25, 2025) – The Osage Nation welcomes home Osage poet Elise Paschen for a literary event and book signing in honor of her new book, Blood Wolf Moon, published by Red Hen Press. The event will be held at the Osage Nation Museum on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The author will sign copies of her book, which may be purchased at the event.

“I’m so excited to share my new poetry collection, Blood Wolf Moon, with my Osage family and friends,” says Paschen. “Bringing this book home to the Osage Nation closes a symbolic circle, as so many of the poems are inspired by this land and my cultural and ancestral history.”

In this free event, Paschen will read several poems from her sixth book of poetry, in which she explores the story lines of her Osage heritage. The core of the book grapples with a dark period of Osage history called “The Reign of Terror” during the 1920s when Osages were tragically targeted and murdered for their oil money. According to Red Hen Press, “Paschen searches her cultural past and family history in poems about the land, ancestors, childhood, loss, nature, transformation, flight and language. In this cinematic book, she builds drama in overlapping narratives, reinventing ways to approach the line on the page.”

Additionally, Magic City Books will host Paschen for a separate free event on Tuesday, April 15, at 7 p.m. at the Tulsa Historical Society and Museum (2445 South Peoria Avenue). Home of the Five Moons Sculpture Garden, this curated garden space features life-size bronze statues of all five indigenous ballerinas from Oklahoma, including Osage ballerinas Maria and Marjorie Tallchief. Osage Casinos and Hotels sponsor the sculpture garden.
